Whether you pick up a paddle for the first time or are already a master on the court, pickleball is enjoyable for all ages and ability levels. The games are swift, the action is addictive, and courts are cropping up all over the Bay Area.

Get out there and invest in your body while meeting some new fun folk at these must-visit pickleball courts in Silicon Valley.

John Mise Park has four dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets that are free to play on. Reservations are available on the website, but drop-in play is also welcome. Courts tend to fill up after 4 p.m., so either get there early or reserve a court.

Paul Moore Park boasts six overlay courts with painted lines, restrooms and lights for free pickleball play. The San Jose Pickleball Club uses these courts as a home base for organized events, including Tuesday Advance Play, Wednesday Night Lights and Thursday Beginners Night. Open play is available, but joining a club for lessons or events provides a social workout time to get to know your pickleball community.

There are eight free courts at EVC with lights for some late-night pickleball matches. Play is free, but there is a $3 parking fee. The college has classes Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on four of the courts, but the other four remain available for play. Drop-in play hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 4 to 10 p.m., and weekends from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Almaden Valley Athletic Club requires a membership to play pickleball, but paying gives you access to five courts with private or group lessons, trainers, food, restrooms and water. AVAC members can reserve pickleball courts three days in advance for one-and-a-half hours daily. Courts are available for reservation Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Camden Community Center has six indoor courts to play pickleball, rain or shine. Bring your own nets and equipment to play here, and pay for a drop-in day pass ($5.50 for adults and youth).
600 East Meadow Drive, Palo Alto / Website
The City of Palo Alto offers pickleball lessons and open play at Mitchell Park. There are 15 courts available on a first-come, first-serve basis for singles and doubles. The courts are open seven days a week for play and are home to the Palo Alto Pickleball Club. Club members can access equipment, lessons for all levels, tournaments and social events.
