The new Union House, at the nexus of Marina, Cow Hollow, Russian Hill and Pacific Heights, offers homeowners a new launching pad to experience the city.
The gorgeous lobby sets the tone for the building.
I’ve always believed that the aesthetic barometer of a great building begins in the lobby. And the one in Union House (unionhousesf.com) is a knockout, featuring white Portuguese limestone flooring, eucalyptus wood walls with leather panels, a custom chandelier from Lusive Design (lusive.com), and a mural by a Parisian artist. These details carry over into the entire building and each of the 41 condos in the new seven-story property with staggering views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Kitchens feature Calacatta marble, custom wood cabinetry, and Miele appliances.
“You just don’t get the chance to build a property of this caliber in a San Francisco neighborhood like this more than a couple of times, so we wanted to do everything right,” says Mark MacDonald, a co-founder and principal at DM Development (dm-dev.com). “We focused on timeless and elegant design. From materials to massing, we ensured the building’s beauty for decades. On the exterior, we chose stone and combined it with bronze, giving the structure architectural weight.”
Bathrooms hold top-tier finishes like Waterworks fixtures, Carrera countertops, and Victoria & Albert free-standing tubs.
The rooftop is the crown jewel among the Union House’s many amenities, with sleek furniture, olive trees, and fire tables for long nights under the stars. “It a place where people can truly enjoy the city’s splendor,” says MacDonald. “Every time I visit, there are homeowners up there socializing, working, and sipping wine—just enjoying the natural beauty of San Francisco.”
Expansive windows usher in Golden Gate views.
Andy Ardila (actcompass.com), who is part of the team that serves as the exclusive listing agent for Union House, says another property asset is the neighborhood. “Homeowners will find world-class restaurants blocks away in every direction on Polk, Union, and Chestnut streets. You have Equinox and Crunch fitness centers, coffee shops, and grocery stores. Everything is walkable; the Walk Score for Union House is 94,” says Ardila, noting that the property is nearly 80% sold out, with fewer than 10 units left.
Terraces at Union House offer countless opportunities to entertain.
Of course, for those who buy at Union House, the allure to stay home may be pretty intense: Each property boasts ceilings exceeding 9 feet, European wide-plank oak flooring, Daikin thermostats, and expansive private terraces. Kitchens include Calacatta marble, custom wood cabinetry, and Miele appliances, while baths hold Waterworks fixtures, Carrera countertops, and Victoria & Albert free-standing tubs. “It was a joy to work on this project, and I think the sentiment comes through in every square foot,” says MacDonald. “Homeowners have fallen in love with this place.”
