Alexis Snyder’s painting “There’s a Place for Us” inspired several short plays in the upcoming 10 in 10: 2017 show.
After the resounding success of The Tabard Theatre Company’s 2014 production of 10 in 10: Perspective, the company is reprising the concept with 10 in 10: 2017, a brand-new collection of 10 10-minute plays. Each was inspired by a work of two-dimensional art created by a local artist. “Our mission is to make a difference in the community through art,” says Cathy Spielberger Cassetta, Tabard’s founder and artistic director. “10 in 10: 2017 is an important production because it gives emerging talent an opportunity to create and express their art. Our artists, playwrights, actors and directors are thrilled and grateful that their creations will be given a public platform.”
The event takes place Jan. 20 through Feb. 5, with all performances held at Theatre on San Pedro Square. The plays, Spielberger Cassetta adds, “are well-written, witty, charming, thoughtful, engaging and even whimsical theater pieces that will surely delight all audiences.” 29 N. San Pedro St., San Jose. Tickets $15–$40
