Luxury golf brand PXG goes for the bold with a new line of modern golfwear.
Renee Parsons looked to the runways for creative inspiration for PXG Apparel.
"Fashion is about what’s happening in the world,” says Renee Parsons. “It’s an industry I’ve always been interested in.”
For Parsons, that world is centered around golf. More than an avid player with a mean swing, she is president and creative director of PXG Apparel, a new luxury golfwear label that debuted in May 2019. Golfers will immediately recognize the PXG name: Her husband, Bob, founded the high-end golf club manufacturing company in 2014. Luckily, Parsons didn’t have to look far for design inspiration.

“The PXG customer is one who’s on the cutting edge of things, someone who is bold in their style,” she says, adding that there was a noticeable gap in the market for fashion-forward golf apparel. Trend spotting on the runways of New York and Paris mixed with her own experiences with performancewear brands also helped Parsons to define the brand’s aesthetic.
The result is a debut collection of modern looks for men and women. Smart separates like collared polo shirts, lightweight vests, pleated skirts and high-waisted leggings feature contrasting designs in black and white—many splashed with the PXG logo. Parsons also took care when selecting textiles. Many pieces are made from stretchy, quick-dry, moisture-wicking fabrics with built-in UV protection. Each collection will have signature colors, with deep crimson and military green slated for fall/winter 2020.

PXG Apparel is available online and at PXG stores across the country, but is especially popular at Scottsdale National Golf Club. The Parsons, who reside in Scottsdale, purchased the 18-hole private club in 2013. “Bob’s dream was to own a golf course,” says Parsons, who leads the invitation-only club’s hospitality and design. “It’s in our backyard—our home away from home.” With a shared vision to cultivate a membership that was both fun and relaxed for men and women, the Parsons family did away with tee times, dress codes and exhaustive rules. Away from the club, the couple is focused on its charity, The Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation (tbrpf.org), which supports a number of causes that help marginalized and underserved populations. Notably, they are signatories of The Giving Pledge, vowing to give the majority of their wealth to charity.

With the spring/summer 2021 collection nearly complete and its signature color selected—a custom blue, which Parsons describes as a mix of cobalt and indigo—she is excited to introduce PXG Apparel to tastemakers beyond the fairway. “PXG Apparel has really stylish casualwear pieces that can be worn off the golf course, like hoodies, leggings and bomber jackets,” Parsons says. “You don’t have to be a golfer to participate with the brand.”
