Tiffany Cobblestone necklace in platinum with rubies and diamonds, $110,000
For the first time in 14 years, Tiffany & Co. is offering designs that showcase rubies.
“Rubies, a blazing symbol of love and passion, are now available in some of our most iconic collections, including Tiffany Keys and T,” says Tom Carroll, the jewelry house’s Northwest vice president. In addition to the Keys star key pendant with rubies and diamonds set in platinum and the T smile necklace in 18K gold with rubies, the collection includes a Cobblestone necklace, Enchant dragony brooch, Schlumberger Sixteen Stone ring, and a Blue Book bracelet.
“Over a decade ago, as part of our commitment to social responsibility, we elected to stop sourcing all rubies, as most of these precious stones originated from Myanmar,” explains Carroll, referencing sanctions imposed on the Southeast Asian country. “We are currently sourcing rubies exclusively from Mozambique, which is a new source for ruby, first found in 2009.” Look for the fiery stone in stores in November.
