Tucked in a corner of the Rosewood hotel is a jewel box of a showroom—the new, and first-ever, Colin Cowie Event Studio. Consider it an added perk of holding a soiree, wedding, corporate gathering or product launch party at the five-star Menlo Park property. The renowned lifestyle impresario describes the chic 250-square-foot space—which is brimming with chinaware, flatware, linens, glassware and objets d’art—as “a wardrobe for inspiration.”
Mood trays display groupings that can serve as a jumping-off point; for instance, a tray awash in blues and greens includes a malachite dish alongside a peacock feather. “The idea is to bring you into the studio, where you get to touch, taste, smell, see and hear,” says Cowie, noting that guests can enjoy refreshments and bites by the Rosewood’s executive chef, Peter Rudolph. “We’re elevating the level of service to create a unique offering that you don’t find anywhere else.”
There are two tiers of service available: One involves members of his talented team, and the other, dubbed Signature Colin, entails working directly with him. For Cowie, who has designed events for celebrities of all ilk, the studio presents “the opportunity to be creative and the opportunity to work with new people in a new environment,” he says. “When I look at that tent out there on the lawn, that, to me, is like Picasso’s blank canvas. There are so many things that we can do.” By appointment only, 2825 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park, 650.561.1500
