NEW IN NIGHTLIFE
Inside the new cocktail lounge Fogbird
Fogbird
Adorned with abundant fauna, new cocktail lounge Fogbird offers a blissful escape to sip and socialize. Carefully crafted drinks like the signature Fogbird Paloma with tequila, fresh citrus and housemade grapefruit cordial are complemented by delectable bar bites, such as spicy fried chickpeas and pretzel knots. “The name Fogbird is inspired by the beauty of the Northern California coast, where land meets the sea and worries float away. Fogbird signifies a moment of respite,” says co-founder David Hunsaker. 144 S B St., San Mateo, 650.458.0049
Wunderbar
Stepping into the recently opened Wunderbar is comparable to walking into a chic witch’s lair. Books, lanterns, mirrors and magical knickknacks fill the shelves of this dimly lit haven, and a stack of tarot cards doubles as the menu. Offering specialty potions such as Fire & Ice (mezcal, guajillo, Licor 43, lime, tobacco and leather bitters) and twists on the classics like the martini (crafted with house orange bitters), Wunderbar’s mixology program only elevates the otherworldly vibe. 310 Baldwin Ave., San Mateo

In the West Gallery, the Art Guild of Pacifica displays its second show of the year, Little Things, filled with pieces that represent the artists’ interpretation of the title. Andra Norris Gallery
Andra Norris, namesake of the community gallery in Burlingame, uses the space to exhibit and sell noteworthy, exquisite works of art created by international artists with connections to the Bay Area. Following the recent exhibit Outside the Open Window, which featured painted and drawn works from California artists April Dawn Parker, Susan Manchester and Ryan Reynolds, the gallery will move to a new and decidedly larger location this spring. Designed by Norris and her team, the space features big windows and plenty of natural light. Kicking off the grand reopening on March 12 is an exhibition called Elevation, featuring exclusive contemporary works from Bay Area artists including Diana Tremaine, Gail Chase Bien and Willard Dixon. 311 Lorton Ave., Burlingame, 650.235.9775
NEW DINING TWISTS
Noma Sushi
Featuring delightfully novel appetizers like Poki Dokey (assorted sashimi with shredded onion and cucumber tossed in special poki sauce) and a long list of mouthwatering house rolls, new restaurant Noma Sushi satisfies cravings from fresh fish to crunchy tempura. Guests can pair over-the-top dishes like the baked lobster—California rolls topped with langostino lobster, baked with Noma sauce, tobiko and scallions—with craft beer or wine. 152 South Blvd., San Mateo, 650.393.4651
Caffe Stellato
Casual means anything but boring at Italian sandwich shop Caffe Stellato. Meats and cheeses imported from Italy are stuffed between deliciously fresh bread choices and topped with flavorful additions like olive tapenade and calabrese spicy spread. Reminiscent of a relaxed Italian eatery, the cafe’s walls are embellished with Venetian murals starring gondoliers and gelato-loving children—making it impossible to resist its 42 flavors of authentic gelato crafted by a local Italian chef. 1112 Burlingame Ave., Burlingame, 650.315.2003
