The latest designer duo to hit the street? John Derian Collection for Stubbs & Wootton. The collection, which pairs two design icons—one home decor, the other shoes and accessories—is a magical mashup that has already been spotted on the most stylish feet, from Maison&Objet in Paris to High Point Market in North Carolina. The six styles for both men and women beautifully blend the comfort of Stubbs & Wootton’s slipper (ideal for long hours scouring antique markets) with Derian’s decoupage-inspired motifs. “My studio manager, Greg Domres, is a friend and neighbor of the [Stubbs & Wootton] owner and hatched the plan over lunch,” says Derian. The resulting range features Derian’s trademark vintage botanicals and collages embroidered on velvet in King Black, Mariposa Brown, Ribbiting Burgundy, Rosal Black, Audubon Hunter and Swallows Navy. “I had made some collages a little freer than my usual work. They did an amazing job translating them onto shoes, and the embroidery is beautiful,” he adds. In addition to his newly debuted footwear for Stubbs & Wootton, Derian counts tableware with Astier de Villatte, fabric and wallpaper for Designers Guild, and candles for LAFCO among his successful collaborations.
