One of the premier names in luxury supercars, McLaren Automotive is now making a seriously-stylish impact in the realm of technical apparel: The iconic British brand has just unveiled its summer 2021 collab with premium sportswear label Castore, a second collection of technical clothing ideal for both performance and everyday wear following up the initial fall/winter 2020 release.
From the water-resistant, breathable McLaren Performance jacket made with high-stretch performance fabric; to Superlight vests and t-shirts; Performance shorts with a haptic elasticated waistband, hidden drawcords and concealed-zip side pockets; and the signature waterproof, windproof, lightweight Garcia hoodie, each item is inspired by the design and engineering of McLaren’s supercars and is created with the same exacting attention to detail.

Now with two collections under their belts together, the two companies are an ideal match, says McLaren Automotive Chief Marketing Officer Gareth Dunsmore.
“In our own respective fields, McLaren Automotive and Castore are both challenger brands who take on established players by pushing the boundaries of design and technology,” he notes, adding, “Both British brands were drawn together by an enduring quest for creating products of exceptional quality and providing an unrivalled luxury customer experience. Our shared principles and values are at the core of this collaboration and ultimately is what makes the relationship between the two brands so natural.”
The items are available in stylishly subdued shades of blues, grays and white—all the better to pop against the automaker’s signature McLaren orange, one of the industry’s most iconic colors.
Says Dunsmore, “The famous McLaren Orange dates back to the 1960s, debuting on founder Bruce McLaren’s Can-Am race cars—though it was always his dream to design and build supercars for the road. It’s not only a part of our racing history; McLaren Orange remains one of our most popular colors on our supercars today, having developed the modern version with our official paints and coatings partner Akzo Nobel.
“The range of options and the ability to personalize your car is almost infinite, especially through our McLaren Special Operations in-house bespoke division,” he continues. ”McLaren Orange reminds us of where we’ve come from as a brand, but also acts as a marker to where we’re going and to never lose the pioneering challenger spirit Bruce instilled into the brand all those years ago.”
