Longines' Legends

Mike Espindle, with Roberta Naas and Andrea Bennett | January 18, 2018 | Style & Beauty Story Style

Andre Agassi, Conquest V.H.P.
Celebrating Longines’ 60 years of quartz watch innovation, the Conquest V.H.P. (for Very High Precision) timepiece opens a new chapter for this type of movement, with technology that automatically resets the hands to the correct time after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field is detected. As a bold, brash and rugged sports watch, who better to represent the Conquest V.H.P. than tennis legend Andre Agassi, a 10-year Longines Ambassador of Elegance whose charitable organization, the Andre Agassi Foundation, benefits youth education in his hometown of Las Vegas and is supported by the brand. “I’ve worn heavier watches, but [the Conquest V.H.P.] is one of my favorites,” he says. “One of the side benefits of this program is that I get to look like a classy guy because of these watches.” $1,675, CH Premier Jewelers; Stanford Shopping Center, Westfield Valley Fair

Kate Winslet, Flagship Heritage
Oscar winner Kate Winslet is a longtime Longines brand ambassador who took that special relationship one step further over the summer. During a visit to the Longines headquarters and museum in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, Winslet was particularly enamored with one of the brand’s museum pieces, an original Flagship timepiece. The actress collaborated on a special, limited edition of a new Flagship Heritage watch, which was auctioned in June to benefit her autism charity, the Golden Hat Foundation. “Thanks to Longines’ involvement and the generosity of the donators, the foundation will keep on working toward achieving its goals,” she says. While the Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet watches are all accounted for, their sister 38.5 mm Flagship Heritage timepiece is available in stainless steel. $1,675, CH Premier Jewelers; Stanford Shopping Center, Westfield Valley Fair

Mikaela Shiffrin, Conquest 1/100th Alpine Skiing Chronograph
With the upcoming Winter Olympics in South Korea, Longines is exceptionally timely in having American World Cup Alpine ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin (part of the U.S. team) as a Longines Ambassador of Elegance. “I have a great appreciation for quality in every aspect of my life: performance, diet, surroundings, lifestyle, appearance, choice of words and, yes, even my watch,” says Shiffrin. The athlete’s timepiece of choice? The Longines Conquest 1/100th Alpine Skiing Chronograph. It houses the Conquest watch line’s quartz movement, the L440; and it enables the watch to be reset instantly when a disturbance is detected, in addition to its chronograph function, which can time to 1/100 of a second. $1,600, CH Premier Jewelers; Stanford Shopping Center, Westfield Valley Fair
