Call him Lil Nas X, doobie or by your name for that matter, but whatever you call him, the Grammy-winning artist born Montero has earned the title of Global Ambassador for the House of Coach.
The singer made his runway debut with Coach at this week’s presentation of the Spring 2023 collection as part of New York Fashion Week.

From the mind of Coach creative director Stuart Vevers, the lineup of looks took inspiration from American heritage, taking great care to create a sense of fluidity while also honoring the magic of imperfection.
“With Spring, I wanted to evolve notions of luxury that place an emphasis on perfection,” Vevers says. “Inspired by the next generation’s fluid approach to fashion, the collection celebrates pieces that become more beautiful the more they are worn and loved, and references to the past rediscovered in the present. To tell this story on the runway, I imagined a Coach world inspired by New York City’s piers, a place with a unique cultural legacy, and a unique feeling of possibility. I was also thrilled to partner with Lil Nas X on his first runway show as part of our presentation—he is the epitome of the next generation’s inspiring approach to self-expression.”
The collection includes ready-to-wear, one-of-a-kind pieces and bags made from repurposed leather jackets and football leather—two things that are as American as apple pie. Gingham dresses, black lace, oversized varsity sweaters and other hints at Stateside fashion history and culture are woven throughout the modern ensembles.
“It was such a fun experience being part of the Coach show and walking on my first runway ever,” Lil Nas X says. “I’m super excited to make my debut as a face of Coach; a fashion house that believes in a lot of the same things as me. I can’t wait to share all of the other amazing things I’ve been working on with Stuart and his team very soon.”
Coach’s Spring 2023 collection also debuted a new interpretation of its classic Tabby bag, showcased on the runway in a messenger style made from vibrant jelly material. The bag is said to be a nod to the collection’s beach-ready undertones.
