50th Anniversary Celebration – Junior League of San Jose

Junior League of San Jose celebrated 50 years of community service on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Children’s Discovery Museum in San Jose. The gala was emceed by NBC anchor Laura Garcia-Cannon and featured a video presentation and a commendation by San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo. The celebration also included a memborabila room, a photo booth, dinner and dancing. The Children’s Discover Museum was a fitting venue as it was a two-time past project for JLSJ.

Fifty year ago, on May 10, 1967, the Service League of San Jose received notification from the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) that their application to become a chartered Junior League chapter was approved. Since then, the Junior League of San Jose has gone on to support 100+ local organizations, and has given over $5.4 million back to our community. From promoting voluntarism and developing the potential of women, to improving our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers, JLSJ has made a long-lasting impression and created significant change within our community over the last 50 years.
