Fireclay’s Venetian Green tiles ($28 per square foot), part of its Dutch Masters Palette.
Fireclay Tile, founded in San Jose during the 1980s, continues to update the process by which consumers can view and order the company’s vibrant handmade ceramic and recycled glass tiles. Its newest sampling experience is Stories, a tile kit curated by tastemakers and in-house designers. “We challenged ourselves to find a way to respond to current trends in design and seasonality without contradicting our belief that good design is one of our most sustainable assets,” creative director Jamie Chappell says.
The kit comes with eight tiles and photographs, and can be ordered online and delivered for $10. It is designed to enhance the already robust online experience for which Fireclay is known. The first in the rotating series is the Dutch Masters Palette, a mix of saturated colors inspired by Dutch still-life oil paintings of the Northern Renaissance. The dramatic palette pairs especially well with marble surfaces and metallic touches.
