Tell us about what the network does?
VolunteerMatch was founded with a vision of making it easier for good people and good causes to connect. As the leading platform for volunteer recruitment on the web, VolunteerMatch has engaged millions of volunteers in the art of community service all across the country and our world. In a nutshell, we create solutions that ensure every person—regardless of their social or economic background—can become a force for progress in their community.
What does that look like during the pandemic?
Now, more than ever, as our nonprofits prepare for and engage in the difficult task of recalibrating and reimagining what volunteer service looks like in a world altered by COVID-19, VolunteerMatch’s services and solutions are critical to ensuring that no community is left behind. We’ve updated our services to respond to the moment by including new features like COVID-volunteering- related search and a huge data set of virtual volunteering opportunities. We’ve also created a COVID-19 resource hub with the most comprehensive research on volunteering during the pandemic around to help people across all sectors understand the volunteering landscape during this pandemic and how to take action.
What’s your 2020 motto?
Come together! Collaboration is the best way forward, and we are fortunate to have some great virtual tools to make this easy, even during a time of physical distancing.
