"My grandmother always said, ‘You wouldn’t wear the same dress to play tennis as you would to have dinner, so why would you wear the same fragrance?’” Aerin Lauder, founder and creative director of AERIN, says of the iconic Estée Lauder. The always elegant Aerin has built her eponymous empire on the idea of fragrance wardrobing to match your mood, season and location. And her latest launch adds another dreamy locale to the magical mix.
“Sailing in the vibrant blue Aegean Sea, with its clear light and cool breezes scented with orange flowers, is a dream experience like no other,” she says. Adding to her array of destination- inspired scents, Aerin looked to the Mediterranean for inspiration. The new fragrance, Aegea Blossom, is a sparkling and sun-kissed mélange of verbena with Mediterranean florals. Notes of jasmine, neroli, Sicilian bergamot with mandarin, and verbena capture the cascades of flowers that bloom along the shores in the region. The heart comes through crisp and clear like an ocean breeze, while hints of musk, vetiver and sandalwood evoke the warmth of the glowing sun. The bottle is topped with Aerin’s signature stone in blue with accents of gold, making it an ideal vanity topper.
As for Aerin’s travel practices, she often packs an array of scents to suit her mood and, even, the time of day. “Fragrance is a personal expression,” she says. “I always recommend picking a scent that has a special meaning or something that evokes personal memories and emotions.” All by AERIN at Neiman Marcus, Stanford Shopping Center
