The Eames Institute opens a new Bay Area headquarters.
The new Bay Area headquarters of Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity recently opened in Richmond.
From exceptional hotels to restaurants, home design and decor inspiration comes in many forms. The minds behind the Eames Insitute (eamesinstitute.org), launched in 2022, hope its new space will provide homeowners and interior designers with fodder to last a lifetime by imparting the timeless aesthetic of Ray and Charles Eames.
Patrons will see the inspiration behind the designs of countless furniture pieces.
Earlier this winter, the Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity opened in Richmond. The newly refurbished space holds much of the Institute’s vast collection—all under one roof for the first time, creating new opportunities for curation and the exhibition of prized pieces.

The exhibition provides a comprehensive overview of the duo’s work, showcasing various materials from mass-produced furniture designs and unique prototypes to personal memorabilia and private correspondence. Patrons will see 40,000 artifacts, including prototypes, products and tools.
The light and airy space reflects the Eames aesthetic.
“It’s such a pleasure to expand the reach of the Eames Institute and further share the collection with even more people,” says Llisa Demetrios, chief curator and granddaughter of Ray and Charles Eames. “The Eames Archives is so special to me because it holds the things my grandparents loved and cherished—it’s an absolute joy to finally be able to share these pieces this way.”
