Drink to This

Laura Ness | June 27, 2018 | Story Wine and Spirits National

For the first time in its 40 years, the storied Mount Eden Vineyards is opening its doors for seated public tastings, by reservation only. Guests will instantly appreciate why this special place, with its lofty setting in Saratoga, bears such a hallowed name. As the winery does not have a traditional tasting room, winemaker Jeffrey Patterson and his wife, Ellie, welcome you into their home.

Enjoy six selections from the Mount Eden and Domaine Eden portfolios, accompanied by an upper cellar tour and an overview of the property’s history, which dates back to the days of Paul Masson. The $75 tastings, which can accommodate a maximum of six people, are available the second and the fourth Saturdays of each month, and last about 90 minutes. Weekday tours, about 45 minutes, are also available by reservation and encompass a tasting of three wines, for $25. 22020 Mount Eden Road, 408.867.5832
