When floral designer Kren Rasmussen makes arrangements for Easter and Mother’s Day, he can credit both parents for inspiration. His gardener father and seamstress mother, both from Denmark, “loved the arts and were both very creative,” says the owner of Bloomster’s. “My dad was passionate about bonsai, and my mother made many wedding dresses—and I got used to working with textiles.” He also gleaned technique from Copenhagen florist Erik Bering, who worked for jet- setters and Danish royalty. Today, Rasmussen’s designs (typically $400 to $800) grace stylish homes and events throughout the Valley. “We strive to be a trendsetter,” he says. “I want the flowers we do to be exciting.” 5945 Almaden Expressway, Ste. 170, San Jose
