Spring and summer are prime seasons for Cavallo Point and Carneros Resort.
Carneros Resort & Spa and Otto’s pool
The opportunities for a great escape are endless when a resort’s backyard is 75,000 acres of national parkland. Cavallo Point (cavallopoint.com), nestled on the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, has those bragging rights, along with 142 rooms, a Healing Arts Center & Spa, meditation pool, excellent dining at Sula and interactive cooking classes.
Cavallo Point boasts 75,000 acres of national parkland in its backyard, plus views of the Golden Gate.
Art also plays a critical role at Cavallo Point. With over 800 original artworks and photography adorning guest rooms and public spaces, the lodge showcases creations from emerging talents and established names, including luminaries such as Imogen Cunningham, Gregory Colbert and Phil Borges.
Teaming up with the Healing Arts Center & Spa, Cavallo Point offers guests an impressive lineup of fitness and wellness options this spring—think rejuvenating yoga sessions and invigorating hikes to informative presentations by on-site integrative health practitioners. The Aromatherapy Bar offers a sensory journey, while adult “recess” activities include lawn bowling and croquet. We also love the resort’s bespoke meditation sessions and outdoor boot camp classes, the perfect yin and yang for getting lost.
The lobby at Carneros Resort & Spa
Less than an hour north of Cavallo Point in Napa is Carneros Resort & Spa (carnerosresort.com). The 28-acre property features 100 cottages, suites, residences and private homes. Following a recent spa makeover, the resort extensively renovated its cottages and suites. Bonus: The team boosted the great outdoors—guests rave about the enhanced outdoor terrace amenities and the addition of new gas fire pits.
Don’t overlook the dining— especially this highly anticipated debut. FARM at Carneros (farmatcarneros.com), which opened earlier this year, offers Italian-inspired farmhouse cuisine from James Beard Award-winning chef Chris Bianco with signature cocktails and an impressive Napa wine list. Early menu standouts include beetroot cannoli, Cinta Senese osso buco, wood-fired Hokkaido scallops and tagliatelle with rock shrimp.
The Healing Arts Center & Spa at Cavallo Point
In addition to organic vegetables and herbs carefully chosen from the restaurant’s culinary gardens, the resort celebrates its agricultural roots by maintaining a dedicated chicken coop. An on-site apiary overseen by the resort’s resident beekeeper, Rob Keller, contributes to Carneros’ efforts to produce honey. This immersive experience extends to the All the Buzz program, allowing guests to dive into the art of beekeeping. Talk about sweet spring and summer vibes.
