Built to Benefit

The playhouses have returned! Stanford Shopping Center is once again the site of Rebuilding Together Peninsula’s biennial event that consists of playhouses created by local builders and architects to raise funds for the nonprofit. The structures will be auctioned off June 3 at the Dreams Happen Gala, which includes a cocktail hour, dinner, auction and dance party (tickets $130); there’s also an option to attend only the auction and dance party ($75). This year’s 13 playhouses represent a range of styles and themes.

There’s the Splash Trolley by AP+I Design and NOVO Construction, which features indoor and outdoor hoops as well as Golden State Warriors memorabilia. Metropolis Architecture and XL Construction’s Stanford Cinema is geared toward theater and movie buffs. The Skygazer by Libby Raab Architecture and Olivewood Construction includes a retractable roof, perfect for your astronomer-in-training. Now through June 9, marvel at each one of the incredible designs for yourself—and maybe add one to your backyard wish list.
