Among Hooman Khalili’s latest gigs is leading the musical charge at a sleek new Mountain View property.
The most recognizable thing about Hooman Khalili is his voice. For 20 years, Khalili regaled Alice 97.3 listeners with his movie reviews as a Sarah & Vinnie Morning Show host. Now Khalili has a second and third act. We were able to get this Valley dynamo to hang out for a few minutes and chat about his latest ventures.
We hear your latest passion project is all about great music, yes?
I’m the music director for Mountain View’s new Ameswell Hotel. Look for exceptional musical programming and live acts throughout the month.
Tell us a little about your environmental efforts as head of brand with Reseat.
I’m the head of brand development—it’s a startup that ensures used furniture doesn’t end up in landfills.
Your favorite looks when you’re out in the Valley?
Cuff links. People started giving them to me for birthdays and holidays. All of a sudden, I ended up with some cool cuff links in the shape of a movie film strip and fancy gold Celtic knots.
When working long hours, your secret to still looking crisp and fashionably together?
Darker neutrals over brights, because they’re more wearable—and a little safer. You can wear them a few times, and no one will notice you’re wearing the same jacket. But if you wear a baby-blue jacket a few times, everyone will be like, ‘Oh, wow. He keeps wearing that baby-blue jacket.’
