The founder of Exhale Parent chats about her family-friendly places and products.
Prior to becoming parents, Missy Narula and her husband spent ample time absorbing information about how to properly care for a baby. But as they continued to have kids, many aspects of becoming a parent surprised the couple. The Narulas started asking themselves questions about how to hire and background-check caretakers, how to budget for being a family and how to plan for their children’s futures if something were to happen to them. Failing to find a comprehensive guide, Narula started her own—Exhale Parent was born as a financial and legal guide to becoming parents. Narula says, “Exhale Parent has grown beyond parental leave navigation into a platform for legal and financial information for new families. We provide tools for family protection, financial planning and caretaker resources—all areas that have new needs when a new baby arrives.” Here ar the mom of three’s Bay Area-based favorites.
“I invented Diapertainment when changing my toddler’s diaper became impossible. I found myself handing her my phone (playing Elmo, of course) to keep her entertained during diapering, but I wanted to keep my phone safe—so I invented a solution.”
“We have gone berry-picking at JSM Organics several times during quarantine; it is truly a Silicon Valley gem.”
“We have also really gotten into this cool puzzle brand out of Oakland called Wongo Puzzles. The kids love the fact that the pieces are each shaped like an animal.”
“I’m on the board of PL+US, which is fighting tirelessly for paid leave for all.”
”Kids evolve rapidly, and I love the quality and ease of Lovevery, which has done all the research on simple toys that are developmentally top-notch for my toddler.” The Buddy Stroller
