Ally Love is one of the breakout stars of the Peloton world. Here, we dish with the talented instructor and host of the Brooklyn Nets on how she’ll stay motivated in this year.
Are you surprised by the success of Peloton? I wouldn’t say it’s surprising. I would say I’m grateful to be an instructor and a member of a community that isn’t just about changing your body—although that’s a true byproduct of what happens when you take a class—but the reality is it changes your heart and mind.
Are you recognized now on the streets of New York? People see me on the street, and they don’t just say, ‘I ride with you.’ It’s more like, ‘You changed my life because…’ That’s something truly unique and special. It’s encouraging to hear.
You are one busy person, especially during basketball season. How do you get it all done? Every day is different, but I prefer to work out in the mornings, so I usually teach early and then get in my own workout. In the middle of the day I have all my meetings, answer email and strategize on my classes, and then on game nights, I head to Barclays Center. Before I go to bed, I scan my next day’s schedule so I know what’s ahead and what I’m going to wear. My mom taught me that trick, and it works! I get up in the morning clearheaded and ready to go.
What do you tell people who really want to make 2020 a year of change? Set expectations and realistic goals for yourself, then scale back from there. So, if you want to work out four times a week, start with one workout a week. After a couple of months, you’ve checked off that box and had that success. Start with something small, call it a win and build on that. Most people just come out too hot. onepeloton.com; lovesquad.com
